For those of you who have been tempted in life (who among us have never been?) and have often wondered on how to be wary of it, here's a tip from me. While it is inevitable for all of us to be tempted at some point in all our lives, it is certainly not indubitable that we will give in to it.
Curbing temptations take lots of constant practice and hard work. You will have to reach a state of constant unwavering awareness of the things that you do, say, see, hear and even think. The most important thing to have (next to Jesus) is of course "will power". However, do not be discouraged if you seem to keep on falling into temptation for the bible says:
"Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" Matthew 26:41
Know that it happens to even the best of us and it is all the more reason to strive not to fall into that temptation again for the bible also says:
"Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance and for this we labour and strive, that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the saviour of all men, and especially of those who believe." 1 Timothy 4:7-10
For starters, the next time you are tempted, say to yourself "It's tempting but....." and I guarantee you that you will think of a reason why you shouldn't do it.
